Advice to New Students and Players
Welcome to the Richmond Hill Area Tennis Association tennis program !
Advice for everyone to be successful on the tennis court: 1. Dress comfortably, if it is too cold, wear sports pants. 2. Wear tennis shoes (non marking sole) and socks. 3. Bring a water bottle or a drink with a top. You will have that on the court with you. Put it by the fence at the back of the court. 4. Bring a towel. 5. Don't forget to bring your own racquet if you did not purchase one from RHATA. 6. Put your name on everything that you bring to the tennis courts, including your water bottle. 7. It is RHATA/USTA policy that in the event of a rain out, or the temperature reaching 45 degrees or lower, the lesson will be cancelled for that day and the session will be extended one week further to allow for a make up day.
Rules for junior program participants: a. Do not leave the court area unless your parents have come for you. This is for safety reasons. b. Do not swing your racquet without regard to who is standing near you and do not hit balls recklessly. c. Do not hit balls over the fence. d. Be careful about running on the court, watch for balls at your feet. e. Warn classmates about balls at their feet. f. If you feel ill or too hot, tell your teacher, stop playing and get into the shade. Drink plenty of water. g. Put your name on your bag, purses, racquets and racquet covers. Keep belongings inside the fence.
